CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP

For more than 90 years, I have sought to be diligent in my learning and my living. Education is discipleship; the Bible teaches us to seek truth to develop our gifts and talents and become better servants and stewards.

Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr.

Benefiting the launch of a new college outreach program to serve postsecondary students residing in Northeast Florida

Join in celebration of the 60th anniversary of when Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr. began his journey as pastor of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church. Since accepting a call to educate, inspire, and strengthen lives, Bishop McKissick, Sr. has introduced countless programs that extend beyond the walls of the Bethel Church to benefit generations throughout the Jacksonville community.

Recognizing the gaps that many college students may experience in their journeys when leaving their home community, Bethel is launching C.O.N.N.E.C.T. (Cultivating Opportunities to Nurture, Network and Engage Campus Ties). Complementing Bethel’s longstanding commitment to tutoring and college readiness programming available to area K-12 youth, C.O.N.N.E.C.T. is designed to increase collaboration, support and engagement with young men and women on Northeast Florida college campuses.

The inaugural Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr. Golf Tournament will strengthen the efforts Bishop McKissick, Sr. has long led to connect the historic church to the community.

FAQs

The golf tournament is on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026, at Deercreek Country Club, 7816 McLaurin Rd. N.

The course opens at 8:30 a.m. to golfers for warm-up. At 10 a.m., the competition begins (Shotgun Start). While the tournament is in session, spectators and families can also enjoy themselves with music, food trucks, and games. Immediately following the competition (expected not to exceed 5 hours), an awards banquet will be held at the clubhouse for golfers, sponsors, and persons who have purchased tickets for the awards banquet.

Persons interested in playing in the 18-hole tournament (Scramble) can register at http://rwmsrgolf.com/. An individual registration is $160; foursomes are $600. Registration includes a swag bag, green fees with cart, and prizes. All registrations must be submitted (with payment) by March 15.

Nongolfers and families will also have an opportunity to enjoy the day with a celebration that includes music, food, and fun.

All golfers must wear a collared shirt (polo-style golf shirt) and non-spike shoes. Spectators are encouraged to wear clothing and shoes that are appropriate and comfortable. In addition to clothing, attendees are expected to display courtesy, respect, and civility in all areas of the golf course.

The tournament will be hosted rain or shine. In the event of lightning, play will be suspended and resume when deemed safely to do so.

The Bethel Church is hosting its first ever golf tournament to commemorate the 60th anniversary of when Bishop McKissick, Sr. became pastor. Proceeds from the Rudolph McKissick, Sr. Golf Tournament will be used to launch a new college outreach ministry C.O.N.N.E.C.T. (Cultivating Opportunities to Nurture, Network and Engage Campus Ties). With northeast Florida serving as home to several colleges and universities, Bethel is seeking to build greater connection, engagement, and support to young adults who have relocated to our city. With this new program, Bethel will mitigate barriers such as transportation, competing priorities, minimal fellowship and mentorship opportunities and provide resources that connect their educational and spiritual journey.
